Ecosystem Services

The challenge in ecosystem services is to make their value tangible, so that information can contribute to company and market decision making. For some years, Fibria has identified, qualified, and disseminated information about its ecosystem services. In Brazil, we also participate in and contribute to studies for the development of methodologies for valuing services, in addition to monitoring global trends in this area. In July 2016, the Natural Capital Coalition launched the Natural Capital Protocol, which, in the field of ecosystem services, is equivalent to the important carbon gains achieved through the GHG Protocol in 2008. Companies around the world now have the same reference base to qualify, measure, and report their data.

Fibria is also an institutional partner of the Vale do Paraíba Ecological Corridor, a nonprofit organization that operates in the Vale do Paraíba region promoting forest restoration, connectivity of Atlantic Rainforest fragments, and payment for environmental services, among other activities.
