Value Chain

Favorability Survey

The relationship with the communities around operations is based on transparency, support of projects to generate income, and inclusion in the company's value chain. This approach seeks to guarantee the implementation of the strategy and sustainability of its business. So much so, that in 2011 we established a Long-Term Goal to achieve 80% favorability by 2025.

Monitoring is done through the Favorability Survey. The objective is to measure, through a synthesis indicator, the quality of the company's relations with neighboring communities.

In the second edition of the survey, in 2016, we interviewed 3,200 people, with a different profile than the previous edition, conducted in 2013. This time, there was a higher percentage of unemployed and precarious workers - 17.7% compared with 3.8% in 2013. This change is reflected in the general confidence results, which indicate an increase of pessimism and uncertainty in relation to the present and the future.

The General Favorability Index remained within the 2% margin of error, reaching 70.6% against 72.56% in 2013. The reduction indicates a similar 2% decrease in all four aspects that compose the index: Economic Legitimacy, Interpersonal Confidence, Sociopolitical Legitimacy, and Interorganizational Trust. The geographies analyzed yielded a similar result to the General Index: São Paulo (73.6%), Espírito Santo (68.16%), Bahia (70.23%), and Mato Grosso do Sul (71.06%).

Fibria's relationship process, investments in social projects, and open dialogue, can explain the fact that the respondents acknowledge the company's most important commitments as "promises fulfilled" and "concern for and consideration of communities' interests."

The results provide elements so that we can correct routes, reinforce actions, and implement new ways of operating.
