Operational Stability

Operational stability has many benefits for a company committed to generating and sharing value for business and for society. In addition to favoring production goals, within estimated costs, it results in lower emission of pollutants and less operational and safety risks.

A mill achieves operational stability when its average production is above 90% of its maximum production capacity. In 2016, Fibria's mills operated with a stability index 2% below the index recorded in the previous year. For Fibria standards, this reduction is not acceptable. However, it does not represent a significant loss in our operation. In addition, historically, we have always kept percentages above the minimum.

A combination of factors contributed to making the first four months more critical. Among those with the greatest impact are water shortage in the states of Espírito Santo and Bahia and the need to carry out maintenance in boilers and bring wood from more distant locations to supply Aracruz, Espírito Santo. In addition, production was affected by the shutdowns planned for maintenance and the interconnections with the future production of Project Horizonte 2.
