Timeline

  • 1966: foundation of university entrance preparatory course Pitágoras, Kroton's first business.
  • 1972: expansion of activities with the creation of the first Colégio Pitágoras, for primary and secondary level students.
  • 1974: opening of the largest Pitágoras group unit in basic education, Colégio Pitágoras Cidade Jardim, in Belo Horizonte (MG).
  • 1980: in partnership with a construction company initiating infrastructure works in Iraq and in Mauritania, and in tune with Brazil's economic conjuncture, Pitágoras managed schools catering for more than one thousand Brazilian students in these countries.
  • 1990: creation of the Pitágoras Network, a group of schools committed to continuous improvement in service quality.
  • 1999: creation of the Fundação Pitágoras to carry out educational projects in public and private institutions.
  • 2000: at the beginning of the decade, the first Pitágoras campus is opened, with a new teaching system and an exclusive methodology in partnership with Apollo International, one of the largest education enterprises in the world.
  • 2007: Pitágoras organizes a public offering on the BM&FBovespa stock exchange under the name Kroton Educacional (KROT11), enabling a phase of significant growth and development for the Company.
  • 2009: Kroton receives further investment from one of the largest private equity funds in the world, Advent International, which then assumes joint control of the company along with the founding partners.
  • 2010: acquisition of Iuni Educacional, an institution offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs under the Unic, Unime and Fama brands.
  • 2011: four acquisitions during the year – Faculdade Atenas Maranhense (in São Luís and Imperatriz in Maranhão), Faculdade União (Ponta Grossa/Paraná), Faculdade do Sorriso (Mato Grosso) and Universidade Norte Paraná (Unopar-Londrina/Paraná).
  • 2012: in April, Kroton acquires Centro Universitário Cândido Rondon (Unirondon). In May, it acquires Uniasselvi.
  • 2013: announcement of the merger between Kroton and Anhanguera Educacional, forming the largest educational enterprise in the world.
  • 2014: the merger between Kroton and Anhanguera is approved by the Brazilian antitrust agency Cade (Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica). Beginning of integration process.
